George Scott

George Scott, former Red Sox star, has been named manager of the Massachusetts Mad Dogs. Scott, known affectionately as "The Boomer", spent 14 years in the big leagues, most of them with the Boston Red Sox.

The former Red Sox first baseman has had previous managing success with the Mexico City Tigers of the Mexican League, which he led to the league playoffs. Scott also took his winter ball team, the Las Mochas, to the league championship series. According to New York City businessman and Mad Dogs owner Johnathan Fleisig, "We are proud to be able to obtain the services of George Scott, because of his history within the area with a class organization such as the Boston Red Sox and his ongoing community service efforts in the Greater Boston area which will also now involve North Shore children and charity groups."

George Scott's accomplishments as a professional baseball player as well as a manager will help teach his Mad Dogs players many lessons. Scott led the American League in home runs (39) and RBI's (109) in 1975 and also helped lead the 1967 Red Sox to winning the American League pennant.

The Massachusetts Mad Dogs will be holding a press conference to introduce George Scott on Wednesday, March 13, at 10am. For further information regarding the Massachusetts Mad Dogs, please contact General Manager Mike Babcock at 617/592-2255.
